Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Envisions Hyderabad as a Global Cinema Hub: FDC Chairman Dil Raju
On Thursday, prominent figures from the Telugu film industry, led by Telangana Film Development Corporation (TFDC) Chairman Dil Raju, met with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy to discuss the growth and development of the film industry both nationally and internationally.
Dil Raju shared that CM Revanth Reddy offered valuable guidance and insights aimed at boosting the film industry’s growth. Addressing rumors about the meeting, Dil Raju stated, "There is no truth to the negative news being spread about the meeting. Certain matters that were never discussed are being misrepresented. The government is very supportive of the film industry."
Calling the meeting productive, Dil Raju highlighted that CM Revanth Reddy expressed a vision for Hyderabad to become an international cinema hub, comparable to Hollywood. "The CM's aspiration is to make Hyderabad a global center for cinema, similar to how the city is a hub for the pharma and IT sectors," Dil Raju explained. "Everyone at the meeting expressed gratitude for his guidance, and we will work on his suggestions and present a detailed proposal in the next meeting."
Dil Raju clarified that the discussions centered around the overall growth of the film industry, rather than smaller concerns like ticket pricing or benefit shows. The goal, he emphasized, is to elevate Telugu cinema on the national and international stage.
He also revealed that the government urged industry celebrities to raise awareness about social issues and support government initiatives. Furthermore, the government proposed that the FDC organize the annual "Gaddar Film Awards."
Regarding the recent stampede incident at Sandhya Theatre, Dil Raju stated that the police had not shared any footage with them. However, the DGP ordered the industry to take responsibility for the actions of the bouncers involved.
A committee of film industry representatives and government officials will be established to promote further collaboration. As TFDC Chairman, Dil Raju committed to acting as a bridge between the government and the industry to facilitate these efforts.
