“Purushaha is a Feel-Good Entertainer Made for Theatre Enjoyment” – Producer Battula Koteswara Rao
Produced by Battula Koteswara Rao under the banner of Kalyan Productions and presented by Battula Saraswathi, Purushaha marks the debut of Pavan Kalyan Battula as a lead actor. Directed by Veeru Vulavala, the film features Saptagiri, Kasireddy Raj Kumar, Rayancha Kokkura, Vishika, and Hasini Sudheer in prominent roles. The film is gearing up for a grand release on May 22. Ahead of the release, producer Battula Koteswara Rao interacted with the media and shared several interesting details about the project and his journey into cinema.
Speaking about his background, Koteswara Rao revealed that he hails from Karampudi in Guntur district and has no prior connection with the film industry. Despite being new to cinema, he said he received tremendous support from everyone in the industry and described his entry into films as a very positive experience.
Explaining the reason behind naming his son Pavan Kalyan, he shared that he became a huge admirer of actor Pawan Kalyan after watching Gokulamlo Seetha. He believed the actor would reach great heights and felt deeply connected to his personality. When his son was born around the release time of Thammudu, he fulfilled his wish by naming him Pavan Kalyan.
Talking about introducing his son as a hero, he said cinema had always been his passion. Since his son was shy and introverted, he wanted to help him gain confidence through films. Becoming a hero was his own unfulfilled dream, and he decided to realize it through his son.
He also opened up about his association with director Veeru Vulavala. Initially, they planned another project with a different director, but it did not materialize. Later, Satish Muthyala introduced them to Veeru, whose narration impressed him instantly. He even converted his construction office into a film office for the project.
Sharing what impressed him most about Purushaha, Koteswara Rao said the film’s story and narration stood out immediately, especially the love story. He believes the movie will connect with audiences of all sections. He clarified that he never intended to make a massive commercial project for profits, but rather wanted to help his son overcome his hesitation and grow in confidence.
Speaking about the cast, he praised VTV Ganesh for bringing strong entertainment and for supporting the team wholeheartedly. He said Vennela Kishore’s character drives the film’s key conflict, while Saptagiri delivered an impressive performance. Kasireddy Raj Kumar and the heroines also performed exceptionally well, according to him. He further revealed that lyricist Ananth Sriram plays a special role in the film. As for his son’s performance, he said audiences should watch the film and decide for themselves.
On the music front, he appreciated composer Shravan for delivering quality songs and expressed happiness that legendary composer MM Keeravani lent his voice to one of the tracks. He added that the songs released so far have already received a very positive response.
Discussing the release plans, Koteswara Rao confirmed that Purushaha will release in nearly 300 theatres, with premiere shows planned across both Telugu states from May 21. He described the film as a complete entertainer designed for audiences to relax and enjoy in theatres.
Reflecting on the production journey, he said the entire team, from technicians to workers, supported them like family. He added that unlike the negativity often spoken about in the industry, he personally experienced only encouragement and positivity throughout the making of the film.
Finally, speaking about future plans, he revealed that he had promised his son long ago that he would produce three films for him. If his son establishes himself as a hero within those films, he would continue in cinema; otherwise, they would happily return to their village and continue farming.
