25 Years of Nuvvu Naaku Nachav — Memories That Still Feel New

“Nuvvu Naaku Nachav is a film that gave us respect for a lifetime” Trivikram Srinivas & Sravanthi Ravi Kishore look back

As Nuvvu Naaku Nachav completes 25 glorious years, the evergreen classic is all set for a grand re-release on January 1 as a New Year treat. Produced by Sravanthi Ravi Kishore under Sri Sravanthi Movies, directed by K. Vijayabhaskar, and starring Victory Venkatesh and Aarthi Agarwal, the film went on to become one of Telugu cinema’s most loved family entertainers. With story and dialogues by Trivikram Srinivas and music by Koti, the film has achieved cult status over the years.

On the occasion of its re-release, producer Sravanthi Ravi Kishore and writer–director Trivikram Srinivas fondly revisited memories, moments, and miracles associated with the film.

Sravanthi Ravi Kishore shared that revisiting the journey of Nuvvu Naaku Nachav still fills him with joy. Trivikram echoed the same emotion, calling the film a collective miracle that brought not just success, but dignity and lifelong recognition.

Recalling those days, Trivikram mentioned that while he was simultaneously working on Nuvve Kavali and Chirunavvutho, he was deeply involved in Nuvvu Naaku Nachav. From being present on most shooting days to traveling to New Zealand and sitting through dubbing sessions, he remained closely connected to the project, as he was also set to direct Nuvve Nuvve next.

Sravanthi Ravi Kishore recalled Trivikram’s unique writing process. He would first prepare a complete script and later narrate the dialogues in such a vivid manner that the scenes would come alive instantly. The team didn’t just hear the narrationthey visualized the film. The writing room itself became a creative hub where everyone sat together, shaping scenes and characters.

One such unforgettable casting moment was Prakash Raj as the heroine’s father. Sravanthi Ravi Kishore said they couldn’t imagine anyone else once Trivikram narrated the character with such clarity and diction. Trivikram fondly remembered Prakash Raj’s early days on the set, when he didn’t yet know Telugu and wrote all his dialogues in Kannada.

The conversation naturally turned emotional when they spoke about Sirivennala Seetharama Sastry. Sravanthi Ravi Kishore recalled calling Trivikram from Chennai after hearing lines from O Navvu Chalu, overwhelmed by the poetry. The song, written under intense pressure and travel, became timeless. Trivikram reminisced how even a single line from Sastry garu would excite the entire team, and how he never delivered half-baked lyricsevery song came with multiple choices and complete thought.

They also recalled shooting schedules, including the fact that the film’s first scene was shot on the last day, during a train journey from Hyderabad to Nalgonda and back. The film was shot over 85 days, and its initial cut ran over three hours before being trimmed for release.

Talking about the film’s release, Sravanthi Ravi Kishore remembered the mild controversy surrounding certain scenes but stood firm in his belief. Within days, appreciation poured in through late-night phone calls, praising the dialogues and performances. Trivikram credited Venkatesh immensely, saying the actor absorbed the character completely, rehearsed thoroughly, and elevated every scene with his presence.

Both agreed that Nuvvu Naaku Nachav has aged beautifully. Trivikram recalled a moment when Venkatesh’s wife predicted that the film would one day be spoken of like classics such as Gundamma Katha and Missammaa statement that has now come true.

Sravanthi Ravi Kishore shared that even today, when people learn he produced this film, they respond with admiration. The fact that even children repeatedly watch and enjoy it gives him immense satisfaction.

Summing it up, Trivikram said some films earn money, some earn famebut very few earn lasting respect. Nuvvu Naaku Nachav, he said, is one such rare film. Sravanthi Ravi Kishore agreed, adding that the respect and relationships the film gave them continue even after 25 years.

With laughter, nostalgia, and gratitude, both signed off, acknowledging that Nuvvu Naaku Nachav isn’t just a filmit’s an emotion that continues to live on across generations.
