ZEE5 Telugu is set to make waves with the launch of its new series “Mothevari Love Story,” a heartwarming dramedy deeply rooted in rural Telangana. Scheduled for an exclusive premiere on ZEE5 starting August 8, the series shines a spotlight on authentic local storytelling and is part of the platform’s larger initiative to back filmmakers and stories from the heartland of the Telugu states.
Created and helmed by Shiva Krishna Burra, the show features YouTube sensation Anil Geela and Varshini leading a charming cast that includes Muralidhar, Sadanna, Sujatha, and others. Set against the backdrop of Arepalli village, the narrative centers on Parshi (Anil Geela) as he falls in love with a girl from a neighboring village, only for their story to become entangled in a land dispute after the arrival of two elders—a premise that promises both laughs and emotional depth.
Produced by Madhura Sreedhar and Sriram Srikanth, with cinematography by Sreekanth Arupula, editing by Anil Geela, and a stirring score by Charan Arjun, the team has poured significant passion into making the series as genuine as possible. Sriram Prashanth and Anil Geela also serve as Executive Producers, ensuring the vision remains true to its roots.
During a special media preview held earlier today in Hyderabad, the first four episodes received widespread praise for their engaging storytelling and emotional arc. Noted philanthropist Kandakatla Siddu Reddy, who attended as chief guest, remarked, “Mothevari Love Story doesn’t feel like a mere web series; it feels like a feature film. The emotional graph by the fourth episode is truly moving, and I hope these creators continue to bring such stories to life.”
Lead actor Anil Geela emphasized the long journey behind the project, saying, “This is an eight-year dream realized by our My Village Show team, coming together under ZEE5’s support. We hope this connects with rural audiences and encourages more subscriptions.”
Producer Madhura Sreedhar highlighted the authenticity of the cast and crew, praising especially Sadanna’s performance and expressing joy at Charan Arjun’s musical contribution. Producer Sriram Srikanth drew parallels with aspirational studios, seeing this project as a first step in elevating village-based stories to new heights.
ZEE5 Telugu’s Vice President Deshraj Sai Teja underlined the commitment to bringing diverse regional stories alive: “Telugu is rich in dialects and settings. Mothevari Love Story is just the beginning; we’re creating a writers’ room to nurture new talent from across the Telugu region, with more content from areas like Nellore and Bhimavaram already in the pipeline.”
The creative team including music director Charan Arjun, cinematographer Srikanth Arupula, lyricist Ganguprasad, and several cast members shared heartfelt reflections on the collaborative process and their hopes for the show’s resonance.
When asked about the show’s cinematic feel, Anil credited the team’s ambition to bridge web and theater experiences. He believes Mothevari Love Story stands out for its raw non-actor performances, its authentic and immersive depiction of rural life, and the real dialects that ground the story.
Mothevari Love Story is set to deliver fresh, soul-stirring tales from Telangana to wider audiences starting August 8, strengthening ZEE5’s mission to support original, grassroots storytelling.
