As the countdown begins for the theatrical release of Hari Hara Veera Mallu on July 24, veteran producer A.M. Rathnam opened up about the film’s journey, vision, and the passion that has powered this ambitious period epic. In an exclusive interaction with print and digital media, Rathnam shared insights that reveal just how close this project is to his heart.
What kind of film is Hari Hara Veera Mallu going to be?
The story of Hari Hara Veera Mallu is set against the backdrop of the 17th century. Contrary to public speculation, this is not based on a real-life story. It is a completely fictional tale, built around an imagined character.
Explaining the significance behind the title, the makers shared:
We named the protagonist Hari Hara Veera Mallu because ‘Hari Hara’ represents the union of Lord Vishnu (Hari) and Lord Shiva (Hara). And ‘Veera Mallu’ was chosen to reflect the spirit of a brave warrior.”
Grand Premieres in the Works
Fueling the buzz, Rathnam confirmed plans for special paid premieres across Telugu states.
We’re working on organizing 9:00 PM paid premieres on the night of July 23, pending necessary approvals,” he said. “We want fans to be the first to witness this cinematic spectacle.
Clearing the Air on Delays
Addressing speculation around the film’s long production timeline, Rathnam was quick to clarify:
“It didn’t actually take too many shoot days. What extended the timeline was the scale and the period setting. Crafting a film of this magnitude naturally takes time, even if the actual shoot days are limited.”
A Tale of Imagination, Not Biography
When asked if the film was based on a real historical figure, Rathnam clarified that Hari Hara Veera Mallu is a fictional creation:
This isn’t a biopic or the story of a real person. It’s a completely imagined character set in the 17th century. Think of it as historical fiction with creative liberty.
A Film to Be Proud Of
Rathnam spoke passionately about the emotional and visual weight of the film and what he hopes audiences will feel:
After watching this film, I believe people will come to me and say ‘Rathnam garu, you’ve made a terrific film!’ That’s the kind of impact we’re aiming for.
The Epic Awaits
Directed by Jyothi Krishna, presented by A.M. Rathnam, and produced by A. Dayakar Rao under Mega Surya Productions, the film boasts a powerful musical score by M.M. Keeravani.
With Power Star Pawan Kalyan stepping into the titular role and Nidhhi Agerwal playing the female lead, Hari Hara Veera Mallu promises a grand mix of action, emotion, and visual spectacle all wrapped in a rich historical setting.
With just days to go, the anticipation is at an all-time high. A.M. Rathnam’s vision is set to come alive on the big screen, and the storm of Hari Hara Veera Mallu is ready to hit theatres on July 24.
