Ritu Varma: “It’s a privilege to be part of a series like Devika & Danny that uplifts womenStreaming from June 6 on Jio Hotstar
At a press conference held in Hyderabad, the cast and crew shared insights about the project and their experiences working on it.
Ritu Varma, who plays the titular role of Devika, expressed her excitement, saying, “I’ve always wanted to take on a web series that truly stands apart. When the story of Devika & Danny came my way, I instantly felt a connection. It’s a project rooted in honesty and emotion. I’m thankful to Sudhakar Garu for putting faith in this story and launching Joy Films to bring such meaningful narratives to life. Director Kishore Garu brought great energy and clarity on set, and Venkat Dilip’s visuals speak volumes about his precision and passion for the craft.”
Ritu added, “Surya, as Danny, has poured his heart into the role. Siva Kandukuri, who played Subbu, was so natural and effortless. I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Subbaraju Garu, Kovai Sarala Garu, and the entire cast and crew. A special mention to Nandini, who worked tirelessly off-screen. This story resonates with young women who are constantly told what they can or cannot do. I truly believe Devika & Danny will inspire hope and confidence in them.”
Actor Surya Vasistta, who portrays Danny, reflected on the theme, saying, “The story sheds light on the silent struggles many girls from small towns face their dreams often shrink under societal pressure. This series portrays Devika’s transformation as she dares to step beyond those boundaries. Danny, Subbu, and other characters influence her journey in meaningful ways. I’m grateful to Sudhakar Garu for being a visionary producer and to Kishore Garu for making the entire experience feel like working with family. Venkat Dilip Garu’s visual storytelling adds depth to every frame. And a big thanks to Nandini Garu for her constant support. Ritu was amazing to work with, and Siva became like a brother. I’m confident audiences will relate deeply to the characters.”
Siva Kandukuri, who essays the role of Subbu, shared, “In a time when web content is often judged for being bold or edgy, Devika & Danny is a refreshing change it’s clean, honest, and emotionally rich. Hats off to Jio Hotstar and Sudhakar Garu for backing this kind of content. I play Subbu, a character that adds humor and heart to Devika’s story. Each character has a purpose, and their roles in her journey are beautifully crafted. Kishore Garu brought the best out of all of us, and Venkat Dilip Garu’s frames are nothing short of cinematic. Ritu’s performance is one of her best, and Surya’s portrayal of Danny will strike a chord with everyone.”

Director B. Kishore, known for Sreekaram, shared his thoughts, saying, “This series has been a labor of love. Venkat Dilip Garu’s visuals gave the series a cinematic texture. Jay Krish’s music and Karthik’s editing added to the emotional weight of each episode. Thanks to Nandini Garu for being the pillar of strength behind the scenes. With this series, we’re also kickstarting Sudhakar Garu’s journey as a producer, and I hope we’ll continue to tell more stories that matter.”
The event also saw the participation of Mounika, cinematographer Venkat C. Dilip, music composer Jay Krish, editor Karthik, and several others who played a pivotal role in bringing Devika & Danny to life.
