Rs. 6 Ticket Sold for Rs. 210: The Legacy of Megastar Chiranjeevi's Classic "Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari"
Megastar Chiranjeevi’s iconic fantasy film Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari is making a grand comeback in theatres on May 9, marking 35 years since its original release in 1990. Directed by K. Raghavendra Rao and produced by C. Ashwini Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies, the film was a massive hit and a turning point in Telugu cinema.
Back in the day, the film's hype was so intense that Rs. 6 tickets were sold for as high as Rs. 210 in the black market during the first matinee show—an unheard-of craze.
Starring Chiranjeevi as a tourist guide and Sridevi as Indraja, a celestial being, the film featured a stellar cast including Amrish Puri, Allu Ramalingaiah, Brahmanandam, and child actors Shalini and Shamlee.
The music, composed by Ilaiyaraaja, became legendary. Hits like Abbani Theeyani Debba, composed in just a few hours, and Andalalo played key roles in the storytelling. Chiranjeevi even shot the song Dinakutta while running a fever of 106°F to meet Sridevi’s limited schedule.
Shot by top cinematographers Ajayan Vincent and K.S. Prakash, and written by Yandamuri Veerendranath with screenplay by Jandhyala, the film was made on a grand scale with no compromise on quality.
Now remastered in 2D and 3D, this timeless classic is set to captivate audiences all over again from May 9. Don’t miss the chance to experience the magic on the big screen!
