16 movie gets appreciation from Telugu Director's Union
Padmavathi produced the film “16-Every Details Counts” under Sri Tirumala Tirupati Venkateswara Banner and Chadalavada brothers presented the movie that starred Rahman, Prakash Vijay Raghavan and Ashwin Kumar in lead roles. Directed by Karthick Naren, the film released on 10th of this month is turning out to be a hit.
On the occasion makers arranged a press meet which was attended by Chadalavada Srinivas, Raj Kandukuri, Lakshman, Vinod, Karthick Naren, KS Nageswara Rao, Kishore Reddy, Anji Srinu, Darling Swamy and T Prasanna Kumar.
Addressing the media, Raj Kandukuri said, “I really thank producer Chadalavada Srinivasa Rao for releasing a concept based film like “16” in Telugu. Director Karthick Naren dealt such complicated subject effortlessly. I congratulate the entire team.”
Chadalavada Srinivasa Rao said, “Initially, we didn’t get many theaters to release the film. We released it in a single theater as we believed in the concept. Fortunately, the film is running with houseful collections. As of today, “16” has collected Rs 2 crores. The maximum credit goes to director Karthick Naren.”
Lakshman said, “Bichagadu’s success is the best example and proved that concept based films always click at box office. Now, “16” also demonstrated the same. Karthick Naren has become an inspiration for many upcoming directors. For straight Telugu films, the estimated budget will be around 10-15 crores. If concept is good and worth, we can invest. If not, the investment will be futile. I request Telugu directors to make concept based films within the budget of 1 to 2 crores, so that Telugu audience will encourage them.”
Karthick Naren said, “I made the film in Tamil with low budget with small time artists and new technicians on board. In Tamil too, the film picked up slowly. Mr Lakshman has released it in Telugu. I’m happy for the film becoming a big hit here as well. If things fall in place, I’ll make a straight Telugu film under the same production banner.”
